Every year I send out an invitation that rhymes, usually (always) corny.
This year was a very different season than ever before.
It was earlier, shorter, and we had to walk a long way to the rink.
And we needed a crossing guard, like in 3rd grade.
There was no warming hut between periods.
In addition, if you did not call, and did not show, you would face John's wrath.
I'm guessing that got a few off their duff on some Friday nights.
If you were not invited, you could not come - a policy I'm still not sure I like.
We had a goalie every week, although a few were touch-and-go for a while.
But somehow, it was one of the most fun seasons in my memory, and I have fun every season.
